Meet Our Inaugural Adesegun Fatusi Alumni Research Grant Winner!
We are proud to announce Miss Aderibigbe Abolade Kehinde as the first-ever recipient of the Adesegun Fatusi Alumni Research Grant! Her groundbreaking research on “Investigating the Relationship Between the Gut and Oral Microbiome in Breast Cancer in Ondo State, Nigeria” stood out among fierce competition.
This prestigious grant of ₦500,000 will support her innovative work, paving the way for new discoveries in cancer research.
Aderibigbe, Kehinde Abolade is an early-career researcher with a keen interest in cancer biology, particularly female reproductive cancers. Kehinde holds a degree in Animal and Environmental Biology from the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, where she has been actively engaged in research spanning molecular biology, environmental science, and zoology under the mentorship of leading academics. Her scientific interests lies at the intersection of microbiome science, molecular biology, and oncology.
Over the years, Aderibigbe has worked as a research assistant across various academic institutions, gaining hands-on experience in molecular techniques, microbiological assays, and biomedical data analysis. Her most recent research project—supported by a competitive grant awarded to fund her Master’s degree—investigates the role of the gut and oral microbiome in breast cancer among Nigerian women. This work reflects a strong commitment to producing context-specific, impactful health research in Africa.
Aderibigbe is passionate about advancing microbiome-based approaches to understanding cancer progression and is continually seeking opportunities to expand their expertise through collaborative and translational research.
