SECOND EDITION OF THE ADESEGUN FATUSI ALUMNI RESEARCH GRANT
The University of Medical Sciences, Ondo Alumni Association is pleased to announce the call for proposals for the second edition of the Adesegun Fatusi Alumni Research Grant. This grant aims to support outstanding research projects undertaken by postgraduate students of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo (UNIMED).

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
● Must be a first or second-class upper graduate of UNIMED, Ondo, Ondo State.
● Must be currently pursuing a postgraduate programme (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in any course within the University.
● M.Sc. student applicants must be in their first year of the programme.
● Ph.D. student applicants must have graduated with at least a Ph.D. grade during their M.Sc. programme, which must have been undertaken in UNIMED.
Application Requirements
Applicants are required to submit the following documents:
● Undergraduate certificate or statement of results (for M.Sc. student applicants).
● M.Sc. certificate or statement of results (for Ph.D. student applicants).
● Postgraduate programme proposal for which the grant support is requested.
● Endorsement of the proposal by the applicant’s supervisor.
● Detailed budget (Total budget should not exceed ₦1,000,000).
PROPOSAL FORMATTING AND STRUCTURE
To ensure a standardized review process, the submitted research proposal must be typed in Times New Roman, 12-point font, with 1.5 line spacing. The main body of the proposal should not exceed 5-7 pages (excluding the title page, references, and budget) and must follow this structure:
Title Page: Project title, applicant’s name, matriculation number, department, and degree programme.
Executive Summary: A brief overview of the research project (maximum 250 words).
Background/Introduction: Context of the study and a brief review of relevant literature.
Statement of the Problem: A clear, concise description of the specific gap in knowledge, clinical challenge, or scientific issue the research addresses. What are the consequences of leaving this problem unsolved?
Justification: A compelling explanation of why this research matters.
Significance of the Study: How will the findings advance scientific understanding, improve health outcomes, influence policy, or contribute to societal development?
Research Objectives: Clear, specific, and measurable aims of the project.
Methodology: Detailed research design, materials, data collection, and proposed analysis methods.
Expected Outcomes and Impact: The tangible results expected at the end of the grant period.
Work Plan/Timeline: A realistic schedule of research activities.
Standardized Budget Template: Applicants must present their budget in a detailed format. The total requested amount must be clearly justified and must not exceed ₦1,000,000.
References: Consistent use of a standard academic citation style (APA).
